Dear Albert,

If your H1B visa petition is not selected, then you won't have the chance to work in the U.S. this year.

Your employer will have to try to submit another H1B visa petition by April next year- by availing the H1B visa quota for fiscal year 2009.

Thanks for your comments.

Hi,

so what are our chances having h1b visa to work in the US firm this year, if ever i was not randomly selected.? I am Filipino and first time applying the said visa through US employer, I had passed exam and several interviewed they conducted in the Phils. According to them they had submitted our application to ucsis last April 2, 2007, just wait for the feedback. Right now i'm currently working in here Singapore and waiting for the h1b from US. Hope to hear advise from you soon.

Thanks

Hi Bill,

You’re absolutely right!

Bolante is a classic example of someone running from the law by seeking refuge in the United States via Asylum.

Uncle Sam and Lady Liberty have few words for him: “Throw him the book."

Again, thanks for your comments.

Hi Mandy,
This reminds me of former Agriculture Secretary Josephine Bolante who tried to apply for asylum diyan so U.S. Thankfully hindi pinayagan ng korte ang kanyang application for asylum.

Dear Bob,

You flattered me with those comments. Anyway, thanks.

As you may have noticed, I try to inject a sense of humor on some of my postings. The reason is, for most lay people, discourses on legal subjects (like immigration law), come “lifeless and dry.” This is my way of putting life into them.

Again, thank you.

Dear Bill,

Thanks for your comments.

True, indeed. It’s saddening to know that corruption in our country has turned for the worse.

The recent news about the sacking of a justice of the Court of Appeals and the on-going investigation of a number of justices for “selling” temporary restraining orders (TROs) is also saddening- if not frightening. The scourge of corruption took a hit at the altar of justice.

Yes, let’s all hope that things will change for the better down the road.

Hi Mandy,
It's really sad no? Although the Philippines has always been known as a corrupt country, this past few years has really been unprecedented. Although ratings such as the PERC are not infallible, I believe that the Philippines getting 9.4 points (out of a possible 10) is a fair assessment of how bad things have changed for the worse in this country.

It's good to remain hopeful that things will eventually get better but
I just don't have confidence that the current government will be the ones that can move us to the right direction.

You're right. Let your wife become a US citizen and then your children under 18 become U.S. citizen pursuant to CCA 2000.

Your children who are over 18 should apply for naturalization once they meet the residency requirements.

Thank you for posting your comment/query.
